Strategic Communications

Craft the message of liberation.

Good policy will die in Congress without great messaging campaigns. At The Daniel Initiative SET Project, fellows learn how to communicate life-changing policy to a range of audiences.

The social media age gives us more methods of outreach than ever before. But for young advocates, navigating this new space to inspire positive change can be a daunting task.

The Daniel Initiative SET Project will empower fellows to harness diverse mediums to drive messaging for social justice policy. Modern communications professionals need the ability to work effectively in multiple forums. Our fellows will author op-eds, blog posts, tweets, and more all tailored to play a part in a larger messaging campaign.

Washington, D.C. moves fast. Winners in the communications field need to move faster. Our fellows will learn the essentials of rapid response communications, so their message can be the first on the air when stories break.

Everything in the strategic communications focus area ties back to one thing: social justice. At The Daniel Initiative SET Project, we understand that social justice is intersectional. The messages our fellows craft will uplift all areas of social justice, moving everyone towards liberation together.

Fellows will learn directly from Executive Director Breon Wells. Breon leads The Daniel Initiative’s for-profit consulting arm, and is a highly experienced professional when it comes to strategic communications.
