The Library of Congress (pictured here) provides fellows with a wealth of government information only a short Metro ride from SET Project offices. All fellows will receive a Library of Congress reader card granting them access to the facility’s resources.

Good policy is supported by good data. The sharpest policy arguments are a combination of lived experience — the organic narratives our life stories tell — and supporting research. Effective public policy addresses the issues we all know to be problematic with precise detail prescribed by data.

The Daniel Initiative SET Project is in the business of crafting sharp arguments for effective policy. That demands data. As a fellow, you will learn to research with the passion for social justice you already have.

Each fellow will own an area of public policy. Practicing within that area, you will learn to distill complex ideas into education documents including white papers, memos, and briefing materials. These are important skills for galvanizing support around a cause.

Research at The Daniel Initiative SET Project pays particular attention to intersectionality. All social justice issues connect to each other, and as we research, noting how changes in one policy area can affect another is important.
